These propellants are fuels and oxidizers that ignite on contact with each other, and need no other ignition source. The fuel is monomethyl hydrazine (MMH) and the oxidizer is nitrogen tetroxide (N2O4). Solid -Solid propellants motors are the oldest and simplest type of rocket engines. They burn solid chemicals at a rapid rate, expelling hot gases from a nozzle to achieve thrust. However, unlike liquid propellants, solid rocket fuel can't be shut off once ignited.
